CAAHEP is also member of the Association of Specialized & Professional Accreditors ( ASPA).Īccreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) CAAHEP accredited programs are assessed on an ongoing basis to assure that they meet the Standards and Guidelines of each profession.ĬAAHEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation ( CHEA). In collaboration with its Committees on Accreditation, CAAHEP reviews and accredits over 2100 individual education programs in 32 health science occupations. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs is the largest programmatic accreditor of the health sciences professions. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) The AAS program in Surgical Technology is accredited by: Those who pass the exam become certified and are granted the designation of Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and will be granted permission to work throughout the United States of America. Upon completion, students may earn a professional credential by passing a nationally administered certifying examination by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). The program is approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The Surgical Technology Program is a two-year program leading to an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, once accepted, that offers college credit, beginning in the fall of each year.
